ACTION ADVANTAGE
There are several advantages to hunting with Action Adventures.
We pride ourselves in quality personalized service. Our guided and
outfitted camps are limited to six hunters. All guided hunts are two
hunters
per guide. I personally run all of the guided and outfitted hunts,
to insure your complete satisfaction. All of our livestock is well
broke, trained and conditioned for the mountainous terrain. Our
equipment is top notch with your safety and comfort our main
concern. Our qualified staff is always there to meet your needs.
As a fourth generation Western Colorado resident growing up in the
wilds of the San Juan Mountains, I have a vast knowledge of the
game, their habits, and the wild country in which they live.
Providing quality wilderness experiences is a way of life here, and
your complete satisfaction is our main objective. We are not the
largest outfitter in terms of number of clientele we take each year,
nor do we want to be. We do want to be the best in making your
memories great and ones that you will soon want to repeat.
Many hunts and vacations are less expensive than ours. Remember the
old adage "you get what you pay for". There are many expenses that
go into operating a quality outfitting service from; maintaining and
training a large remuda of horses and mules, utilizing quality
guides, cooks and wranglers, providing good home cooked meals, and
do not forget the permit fees, land leases, liability insurance and
state licensing. Fully guided trips that sell for these "to good to
be true prices" generally are, to good to be true. Something has to
be left out; poor equipment and livestock, ill prepared cooks and
guides, and in some of the worst circumstances no license or permit
and definitely no insurance. Then there is the other end of the
spectrum, way to many hunters in camp at one time.
We here at Action Adventures would like to have you consider us for
your next hunt
WHAT ARE OUR CLIENTS SAYING
I first hunted with Action Adventures in
2001. My group hunted the 3rd rifle season and I got a 5x5 on the
third day of the hunt.
Before going on the hunt I had planned on taking a break from
hunting trips for a while. But, was so impressed with the beauty of
the area in
which
we hunted, the thrill of hunting Rocky Mountain elk, and the effort
put out by all of the Action Adventure personnel that I booked
another hunt about a week after getting home.
I wasn’t the only one in my group of (6) who was favorably
impressed. After getting home & telling our stories to friends our
original group of (6) doubled in size and we booked two separate
hunts.
The second hunt I went on was in 2003. We hunted the 1st season this
time. I hunted with my brother Troy. Jay Mitchell guided us.
We left camp on horseback
with the moonlight reflecting off the freshly fallen snow. It was
cold and we had been riding quite a while when we heard bulls
bugling. It was Awesome! We started glassing and saw the elk. We
then tied up the horses and went
after them. This was Troy’s first elk hunt so we had agreed on him
shooting 1st if we happened to be together when we got into the elk.
We got to 320 yards from the “Monster” and he put it down. When we
got to the downed elk, Jay told me to head up to the top of the
ridge, because he knew there were more elk out there. I climbed up
and started glassing. Spotting more elk, I climbed down and told Jay
where I had seen them. He then started looking & spotted (2) bulls
that I hadn’t seen. We started out after them and got within
shooting range. I got one of the bulls. So we had two bulls down
before noon the 1st day.
I have now booked a third hunt.
In general, I believe we were very fortunate finding Action
Adventures. The hunting area is breathtaking (in more ways than one)
the guides seem to want the hunter to get the elk as much as the
hunter himself. The food is terrific. And the overall experience is
something I would, and have recommended to anyone.
Sincerely,
Jason Brake & Troy Brake
3 BULLS IN 3 HUNTS
In the past 12 years I've elk hunted with three other outfitters
in two other states. On these hunts I felt like I'd just wasn't
getting the experiences that I had imagined elk hunting to be like.
Then eight years ago I booked a hunt with Action Adventures. I was
impressed with Jay in the fact that he was extremely honest in how
he described his hunting area, chances of taking game, and how
best
to prepare for a hunt. After going on that first hunt I knew I'd
found the right outfitter. Jays camps are very comfortable, the
riding stock is of exceptionable quality, the best guides who know
the country and animals and some of the best grub to be found. Now
after six hunts and some fine animals I've just booked the seventh
hunt. Keep up the good work Jay, and thanks. I couldn't be happier
with my hunts and the animals I've been able to harvest.
(3 bulls in the last 3 hunts!!!)
Thanks,
Steve Neukirch
